Maddie Anderson is a senior at Chillicothe High School. She has been in the ACES program since her freshman year. She has participated in the University of Missouri-Columbia's mini med school in addition to the ACES statewide version. Anderson's work has been highlighted in an annual report to legislators. She is also a Bright Flight scholar. Anderson says she will continue in the ACES plus program when she goes to college. Her future career plans are to work in family medicine.
What is PRIMO?
- The State of Missouri, through private and public partnerships, has developed the Primary Care Resource Initiative for Missouri... PRIMO for short. It's a pipeline for recruiting health care providers and developing community-based systems of health care and life quality. The pipeline begins at the community level and runs through the health professional schools and training institutions before ending back in the community. If you are a medical, mental, dental or nursing student looking for a way to pay college expenses, PRIMO might be able to help. Participants in the PRIMO program can receive funding for school in exchange for working in an area of designated need here in Missouri.

Maya Moody, Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine
Maya is a 4th year medical student at A.T. Still University of Health
Sciences. She has been a participant in the PRIMO program since her
senior year of high school. The Floristell, Missouri native completed
her undergraduate education at Truman State University. There she was
granted preferential admission to KCOM. Maya has worked with numerous
physicians through job shadowing opportunities with PRIMO. She also
coordinated a summer camp for young girls at the Centro Latino in
Milan, Missouri. Maya plans to practice pediatrics in a Community
Health Center.
Cory Bethmann, St. Louis University School of Medicine
Cory is a 2008 graduate of St. Louis University's School of Medicine. He is an active member of the Family Medicine Interest Group and has completed his training with honors. Cory scored in the 95th percentile nationwide on the standard family medicine exam. His education will continue at the University of Missouri, Columbia. Cory plans to practice family medicine in an underserved rural area.
